In order to reinstall your cable modem, you will first need to determine if your modem connects to your computer using a USB cable or an Ethernet cable.
An Ethernet cable (or "network cable"), looks like a phone jack, but slightly larger.
A USB cable is a computer cable that is flat at one end and connects to your computer. USB cables, as well as the connection port on the back of your computer usually bear the logo seen here:



Check the cable that connects your modem to your computer, to determine which type of cable you are using. Once you have to determined which connection you have, click on the corresponding picture for instructions.
