Reinstalling your cable modem:
Windows 98
Ethernet Connection
If your ethernet card was installed by a Cablevision technician, follow these instructions:
1. Insert the floppy disk provided by the technician - when your modem was first installed - into your floppy disk drive.
2. DOUBLE CLICK "My Computer."
3. DOUBLE CLICK "Control Panel."
4. DOUBLE CLICK "Add New Hardware." The Add New Hardware Wizard should appear.
(NOTE: The Wizard will request to close all programs, so you may want to read all instructions, or print this page before continuing.)

5. Follow the instructions of the wizard, allowing to search for "Plug and Play" devices. If the wizard does not detect your card, allow the wizard to automatically search for "non-Plug and Play" devices.
6. When the search is complete, one of the items in the list provided should be your Ethernet Card. If the wizard found your card, skip to step 9.
7. If the wizard did not detect your card, click "NEXT" and select "Network Adapters" from the list of hardware types. Click "Have Disk."
8. Select to "Copy Manufacturer's files" from the A:\ drive, and click, "OK". If the wizard detects the card, skip to step 11. If you still get no results, ensure that your card is physically installed correctly and securely.

9. Select the ethernet card from the list and click, "NEXT."
10. When it asks for the location of the driver, uncheck all options EXCEPT for your floppy A: drive. Leave it checked, and click, "NEXT."
11. Your computer should eventually begin installing the drivers. When finished, allow your computer to restart.
If the wizard cannot find the drivers on the disk, restart your computer and try again. If you get the same results, go back to the installation location screen (pictured above) and contact tech support.
