Reinstalling your cable modem:
Windows 98
USB Connection

     If you already plugged in your USB cable, OR the wizard cannot find the correct driver file, follow these instructions to remove any old drivers out of your computer, before going any further in your installation:
(NOTE: These steps may require you to remove this CD, and use your installation CD. Therefore, you may want to read all instructions or print this page before continuing.)

1. On your windows desktop, RIGHT-CLICK "Network Neighborhood" and LEFT-CLICK "Properties"

2. In the list of installed network components, click "Motorola Surfboard USB Cable Modem."



3. Click "Remove." The Network window no longer displays "Motorola Surfboard USB Cable Modem" in the list.



4. Click "OK" and Disconnect the USB cable from your computer, or cable modem.

5. The "Systems Settings Change" window is displayed. Click "Yes" to restart your computer.



6. After your computer restarts and Windows 98 reloads, insert the "Surfboard Cable Modem" CD into your CD-ROM drive and allow it to load.

7. After a short time, a window with language choices is displayed. Press the "ESC" key on your keyboard to close that window.

8. Click "Start" in the lower left-hand corner of your screen, and select, "Run."

9. In the "Run" window type, "explorer" and click "OK." The Exploring window is displayed.

10. Select your CD-ROM drive from the graph on the left (D: in the picture below).



11. DOUBLE-CLICK "remove" or "remove.exe" from the menu on the right to run the remove utility from the Surboard Cable Modem CD-ROM. The "Surfboard Cable Modem USB Driver Removal" window is displayed.



12. Click "Remove Driver" to remove the driver from your computer.

13. After removing the driver, you may close the driver removal utility and return to the next step in installing your cable modem.
