     Follow these instructions to properly release and renew your IP address:

1. On the lower left-hand side of your desktop, click "START."

2. In the menu, select "RUN."



3. In the field provided, type: winipcfg and click "OK."



4. The "IP Configuration" window appears. Click the arrow to the right of the white drop-down menu near the top of the window.

5. Along with "PPP Adapter" should be either your Ethernet Adapter (if connection with ethernet cable), or "Motorola USB Cable Modem (if connecting with USB cable)." Once you find your adapter/modem, skip to step #7.



6. If you DO NOT find your adapter/modem, then you need to reinstall your cable modem.

7. If you you find your adapter/modem in the menu, click on it, so that it is now selected in the white box.

8. Click "RELEASE ALL." Your IP address should now be 0.0.0.0.



9. Click "RENEW ALL" and your IP should return to normal. If so, click OK, and skip to step #11.



10. If your IP address does not return, and you receive an error, skip to step #12.



11. Now test your connection by clicking here. If the Cisco Home Page loads, then you have successfully repaired the connection (page may vary from image below).



12. If the page does not load:

- Return to Windows 2000 Support
- Return to Windows XP Support
- Return to Apple Macintosh Support
