Reinstalling your cable modem:
Windows XP
USB Connection
If you already plugged in your USB cable, OR the wizard cannot find the correct driver file, follow these instructions to remove any old drivers out of your computer, before going any further in your installation:
(NOTE: These steps may require you to remove this CD, and use your installation CD. Therefore, you may want to read all instructions or print this page before continuing.)
1. On your windows desktop, click the "START" button on the lower left hand side of your screen.
2. Click the "CONTROL PANEL" icon to display your computer's Control Panel

3. If a catagory view similar to below is displayed, click "PERFORMANCE AND MAITENANCE." Otherwise, skip to step #5.

4. In the "PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE" window, click "SYSTEM" to display the System Properties window. Skip to step #6.

5. If a classic view similar to below is displayed, click "SYSTEM" to display the System Properties window.

6. On the system properties window, click the "HARDWARE" tab.
7. Double click the "DEVICE MANAGER" button to display the device manager window.

8. On the device manager window, double click "NETWORK ADAPTERS."
9. Click the "Motorola Surfboard USB Cable Modem." The UNINSTALL icon is displayed on the window near the top.

10. Click the "UNINSTALL" icon.
11. Close the "DEVINCE MANAGER" window.
12. Close the "CONTROL PANEL" window.
13. Insert the "SURFBOARD CALBE MODEM" CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. After a short time, a window with langueage choices in displayed.
14. Press the "ESC" key on the upper-left part of your keyboard to exit the start-up screens.
15. To start windows explorer, click "START" and select "RUN."
16. In the Run window, type explorer and then click "OK."
17. Double-click "MY COMPUTER"
18. Double click the "MOTEROLA" CD icon (D: in the image below).

19. Double click "REMOVE" or "REMOVE.EXE" to run the Remove Utility from the Surfboard Cable Modem CD-ROM. The SURFboard Cable Modem USB Deiver Removal window is displayed.
20. The window below is displayed. BE SURE THE USB CABLE IS DISCONNECTED.

21. Click "REMOVE DRIVER"
22. After removing the drivers, you may return to the USB installation instructions.
